Donald D. Pearson, an international businessman and entrepreneur, who has had a distinguished career in finance, owns Kurfiss. In 1991 Pearson purchased a small real estate firm from the estate of David C. Kurfiss. At the time the firm had one location, New Hope, Pennsylvania, and ten Realtors. Recognizing the natural beauty, history and culture of Bucks County and its proximity to New York City, Philadelphia and Princeton, Pearson believed the market was ready for the personal service that only a well funded, privately owned, boutique agency could provide. Today the company has grown to five locations serving the Delaware River Valley and Philadelphia’s Main Line. In the first ten year period after Pearson bought Kurfiss Real Estate, sales surpassed $1 billion dollars, and the agency represented buyers and sellers in the sale of over 5,000 homes. Its sales volume in 2002 was almost $300 million representing an increase of over 50% over the previous year. In the same time period Kurfiss listed some 413 homes.
With success comes responsibility. Kurfiss has formed a variety of community partnerships to celebrate the character, culture, and history of Bucks County, the Lehigh Valley and the Main Line. Last year corporate gifts were given to Doylestown Hospital, Michener Art Museum, Bucks Beautiful, The Academy of Vocal Arts, and The Philadelphia Orchestra to name a few. In addition staff and agents are encouraged to volunteer for worthy causes of their own choosing.
